The SODA Studios International Residency Project
The SODA Group Pty Ltd, established in 2005, is a self-funded privately-run clay working studio in Western Australia (WA). SODA is the only International Ceramic Residency of its kind in WA. This unique ceramic studio includes a Fremantle studio and a regional retreat at Hamlin Bay, located in the South Western corner of WA.
SODA The International Ceramic Residency hosts visiting artists from around the world, where they can develop work in a working studio facility. Visiting artists also have the option to spend time working and researching at the SODA regional forest retreat at Hamelin Bay – one of the most stunningly biodiverse and spectacular wilderness frontiers in the world. Visiting artists are welcome to share their knowledge and expertise in clay with the local communities of WA through presentations and workshops.
SODA invites applications from established and emerging contemporary ceramic artists from Australia and abroad. The SODA Fremantle campus is located in the most isolated capital city in the world and is suited to artists looking to be inspired by the unique flora and fauna, incredible landforms, and intensity and contrast of sunlight for which Australia is renowned. It is ideal for ceramic artists interested in invigorating their practice, expanding their contacts and seeking to meet other designer/makers from Australia.
